Learn the Truth about Vitamin K2-7 and MegaQuinone

Vitamin K2-7 MegaQuinone

The health benefits of vitamin K2 for the heart, brain, bone and endocrine system can’t be under estimated. Vitamin K is a lipid-soluble vitamin that was first identified by Henrik Dam in 1929 for its anti-hemorrhagic activities.(1)

As it is, we don’t often get enough vitamin K2 through our diet, except vitamin K1 which is found in leafy green vegetables like spinach and broccoli.

We can find vitamin K2-7 in natto, fermented cheese, grass fed butter and organ meats but not in sufficient quantities. Vitamin K1 stays mainly in the liver while K2-7 is needed throughout the body. While we need vitamin K1 for blood coagulation, vitamin K2 has far more important roles in the body. Vitamin K2 activates vitamin K dependent proteins (VKDPs) which cannot function without the vitamin K2-7.

If calcium is supplemented in conjunction with vitamin D, the calcium absorption will be increased. This, in effect, will lead to calcification of arteries called atherosclerosis, as well as kidney calcification. The risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis will increase as well.

Vitamin K2-7

In the Rotterdam study, 4807 people were followed for a period over 10 years. The subjects who received a minimal dosage of vitamin K2 as supplements showed a 50% lower mortality risk from cardiovascular disease.(2)

Another study of post-menopausal women with high intake of Megaquiones showed that they had a lower risk of arterial calcification.

In the Heidelberg study, 12,000 men evaluated the relationship between dietary intake of K2 and prostate cancer. What was found after a follow-up time of 8.6 years was an inverse association between the intake of Menaquinones and prostate cancer but not that of phyloquinone.(4)

A study of over 38,000 Dutch men and women showed an inverse association with the risk of type 2 Diabetes and the increased intake of vitamin K2. (5)

However, the problem with vitamin K2 supplements is the stability of K2. MegaQuinone is the only all-natural pharmaceutical-grade K2 on the market with 100% potency guaranteed.

When it comes to dosage recommendations, a 320 mcg/ day supplementation of vitamin K2-7 has shown a 97% carboxylation of proteins. This dosage can increase cardiac output, reduce neuropathy, and positively influences mitochondrial energy production. Besides, cofactors are needed for vitamin K2 and they are magnesium, zinc, and boron. All of them are included in MegaQuinone.
