Water Is Essential for Life

What is your thought about water? Perhaps, you consider it a super food? If yes, that may sound unbelievable to some people. Why? Because we know about berries, Shiitake mushrooms or Pomegranate to be on the list of super foods. However, water as a super food is something else.

The best water one can drink is spring water, which completed the water cycle from the ocean, to the clouds, into the ground and then comes up at certain places as spring water. Spring water can contribute to healthy living.

There is no doubt that water is essential for our metabolism. Several body functions depend heavily on water. Without water, most of these functions can’t be performed. Below are a few of the functions of water in the body:

  • Detoxification

  • Digestion

  • Acid – Base Balance

  • Holds Minerals, Vitamins & Oxygen during the transport in the blood

  • Gut function – prevention of constipation

  • Supports Temperature regulation

  • Liver and Kidney function

  • Blood building

  • Structure of enzyme building

  • Balance control

  • Immune function

  • Moisturizes the skin

We all know that we can’t live without water for very long. Let me explain what Thomas Hartwig a German nutrition consultant mentioned in his seminar on water.

“If we don’t drink enough water to the point where we are not dehydrated, we can’t digest and use the food we eat.” Mr. Hartwig had a list of consequences that occur when we are dehydrated:

-1% dehydration – thirsty

-2% dehydration – concentration and memory problems

-3% dehydration – dry skin and mucosa, reduces saliva production & urine production.

-5% dehydration – elevated pulse, dizziness, headaches & muscle aches.

-10% dehydration – confusion, swollen tongue, muscle cramps problems.

-20% dehydration – kidney crisis and death

When you consider the fact that seventy percent of our body is water, the above consequences are real. So, think about it for a moment. How much water do you drink during the day?

What kind of water do you drink? Is it bottled water filled with tap water which contains chlorine?

You see, during the night, we are losing water through sweat, breathing and urine production. “If we don’t drink some water right after getting out of bed, we are at about 2% dehydration level throughout the day,” says Mr. Hartwig.

Best time to drink water?

What do you drink in the morning, Coffee, Tea, or Milk? What you drink and time you drink will tell how much you are hydrated during the day.

Our body can’t handle a large amount of water at once. In other words, you can’t drink a ½ gallon of water in the morning and be thinking that you will be hydrated all day long. The body needs water throughout the day, and that means you need to drink at every interval.

My tips

  • Drink one glass of water right after getting out of bed

  • Drink water throughout the day

  • Don’t drink water with your food; it will dilute the gastric acid.

  • Drink water prior to going to bed

  • Get a water filter such as the Berkey Filter

The Importance of Good Nutrition in Today’s Life

Unhealthy eating combined with physical inactivity is the leading cause of death in the USA.

A diet high in calories, saturated fats, refined sodium and sugar, couple with low fiber and nutrients can lead to various health problems. Some these health problems are:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cancer
  • Autoimmune diseases

Years ago, our forebears cooked healthy meals from fresh produce. The food that was available to our ancestors was full of nutrition. Nowadays, the reverse is the case. The soil we grow plants in is depleted of minerals and beneficial bacteria. The use of synthetic fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides sprayed by workers in hazmat suites often genetically modified.

In addition, minerals and vitamin deficiencies often lead to illness and premature aging. Minerals are not produced in our body but need to be replenished every day. Let’s take a look at what the symptoms are when someone eats a less than optimal diet.

  • Fatigue
  • Trouble sleeping through the night
  • Weight gain
  • Headaches, back pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain
  • Digestive issues – gas, constipation, diarrhea
  • Gum disease
  • Tooth decay
  • Bad breath
  • Muscle tension
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Anger and irritability
  • Skin rashes or eczema
  • Brain fog

Foods should provide us with energy, satisfy us, be fun to eat, and keep us healthy. In addition we need to think about our gut health which includes foremost the health of our gut bacteria. We have about 2 lbs of gut bacteria which weighs as much as our brain and communicates with the brain.

Let’s take a look at what foods are beneficial for us and the micorbiome, the gut bacteria.

  • Grass fed beef
  • Organic raised pork
  • Free roaming, natural fed poultry
  • Eggs from natural fed chicken
  • Butter from grass fed cow milk
  • Olive Oil
  • Coconut oil and butter
  • Ghee
  • Organic vegetables
  • Organic fruits
  • Nuts and Seeds

Now, what will happen when you start nourishing your body? The simple answer is that you probably experience less symptoms and more energy. You may be able to sleep better and through the night. You may not need to see your doctor as often anymore. And your doctor may NOT even see the need for a prescription drugs.

We can choose to support our body with nourishing food and clean water right now.

Fibromyalgia and Oxalates

Chronic Disease, Green Smoothies and Oxalates

What are oxalates?

Oxalates are a natural, plant pesticide if the body doesn’t excrete them, it’s possible they accumulate in the muscles, brain, urinary system, causing a range of problems.

Green smoothies and oxalates:

They contain a lot of ingredients with high oxalate content.

The amount of oxalates in 2 cups of spinach is 15 grams; a potentially lethal dose.

The mean lethal dose by ingestion of oxalates is 10 – 15 grams.

Symptoms after eating foods high in oxalates:

  • Headache
  • muscle cramps
  • joint pain
  • muscle twitching
  • convulsions
  • weak and irregular heartbeat
  • drop in blood pressure

  • Oxalate binds to calcium. You need to consider this if you are eating a diet high in oxalates combined with foods low in calcium.
  • Oxalate intake mg one green smoothie 15,000 mg
  • Average dietary intake: 100 mg mean USA diet per day

Oxalates in arteries

  • When oxalates crystallize they can be deposited by the body in the urinary system such as the kidney or bladder.
  • Statistically about 10 – 15 % of adults will be diagnosed with a kidney stone in their lifetime.
  • 1 mill Americans develop kidney stones each year
  • Once you have had one kidney stone attack, your chance of recurrence is about 70 – 80 percent
  • 75-90 % of kidney stones are oxalates
  • Oxalates can deposit in any tissue of the body such as muscle, heart, kidneys, bones, brain, blood brain barrier, skin, and thyroid gland, joints, blood vessels, lungs, eyes, thymus, fat, teeth, mouth, nerves, brain, and bone marrow.
  • Oxalates in the heart can cause arrhythmia
  • Fungi such as Aspergillus and Candida can produce oxalates. Aspergillus can live in the GI tract and combine with heavy metals.
  • Oxalates bind to calcium, zinc and mercury.

  • Low oxalate diet
  • Calcium citrate with each meal to neutralize oxalates in the urine. The calcium has to be taken during a meal so it can bind with the oxalates. (Calcium needs to be in balance with magnesium. Since most people are deficient in magnesium I would suggest to get a hair tissue mineral analysis done prior to starting with a calcium supplement.)
  • Magnesium citrate with each meal
  • Vitamin B6 stimulates an enzyme so glycine is formed instead of oxalic acid
  • Candida treatment with anti fungal and a spore based probiotic, best would be Megasporebiotic .  One more word on Candida albicans. The body probably causes a hyper-immune response to the antigen from the Candia. Even a small amount of Candida can cause a servere reaction of the immune system.
