GERD & Acid Reflux

Millions of people in the United States are suffering from digestive problems which are painful and can be embarrassing.

  • GERD / Acid reflux
  • Gas / Bloating
  • Stomach cramping or cramping in the intestines
  • Diarrhea / Constipation or both
  • IBS like symptoms
  • H. pylori infection

are the symptoms people struggle with and try to get help from their physician. Complaints about acid reflux or GERD after eating most likely are treated with a prescription of Proton Pump Inhibitors. This kind of medication works by reducing the amount of stomach acid made by glands in the lining of the stomach. Millions of people world wide take this kind of medication.

Stomach pain, Gas, Acid Reflux

The question is: Does your stomach really produce too much stomach acid?

In fact, most people who suffer from acid reflux have too little stomach acid. By taking proton pump inhibitor they reduce the little bit they produce even more.

Let’s think about it, stomach acid starts the digestive process of protein and carbohydrates. With too little gastric juices the chime (pronounced: kime), which is the food that has been mixed with stomach acid, sits in the stomach for a long time, starts to ferment. Gas is being produced by bacteria through the fermentation process, which then has to go somewhere. It creates pressure and discomfort, extends the abdomen, and leaves the stomach through the esophagus and the mouth.

Bottom line is that the pressure from the gas is the problem.

The gas is what pushes the food that sits in the stomach into the esophagus. the burning sensation is caused by the stomach acid that the food is mixed with.

acid reflux, IBS, SIBO, digestive problems,

Let’s take a look at the consequences of low stomach acid.

  • Stomach acid starts the digestive process of protein and carbohydrates  but it also kills bacteria. Bacteria are everywhere and our body is equipped to defend and protect itself. Stomach acid is one way to protect our body from an overload of bacteria but also viruses and parasites. Low stomach acid production therefore increases the chance of having too many bacteria in the stomach and duodenum, the part of the small intestine that connects to the stomach. The immune system now is being taxed with a large amount of pathogens that are not being killed in the stomach before they enter the gut.
  • Stomach acid triggers the production of pancreatic enzymes which help digest carbohydrates and proteins. With too little stomach acid the pancreas will not release adequate amounts of digestive enzymes. As a result the food only partially digests and most likely sits for a long time in the small intestine.
  • But stomach acid also triggers the release of bile into the upper part of the small intestine. Too little bile secretion as a result of a weak trigger by the stomach acid prevents fats from being digested properly. In addition, bile carries the toxins secreted by the liver to the small intestine to be eliminated.
  • Bile also works as a cleaning solution on the gut lining and you can imagine that this mechanism is being reduced with a small amount of bile flowing into the gut.
  • Conjugated bile salts kill the bacteria that produce LPS (Lipo-Poly-Saccharides) which is toxic.
  • In addition the duodenum also produces stomach acid which kills bacteria. Too little acid in this area causes an overgrowth of bacteria where it is not supposed to happen. This causes the fermentation of the food and gas production.
  • Those bacteria in the duodenum produce ammonia and hydrogen gases. Those cause bloating and inflammation on the gut lining.
  • With an overgrowth of fermenting bacteria in the gut, the gut lining becomes inflamed and the mucosal layer compromised. In other words, the gut becomes leaky (leaky gut).
  • When bacteria die they release LPS (Lipo-Poly-Saccharide) which is a toxin. Those neurotoxins can negatively impact the vagal nerve and reduce it’s function. As a result the brain – vegal connection is disturbed and influences the gut peristaltic negatively. In other words, the muscles in the gut lining which move the food through the intestines slow down. Food then sits for a very long time either in the small or the large intestine.
  • H. pylori infection increases and stomach ulcers can develop. While H.pylori is a commensal bacterium, and being held in check by adequate amount of stomach acid it can flourish with too little amount of stomach acid.

As you can see the consequences of low stomach acid are poor carbohydrate and protein digestion of the food you ate, poor bile release, poor fat digestion, bacterial overgrowth, gas production, and the discomfort that comes with it.

SIBO?

When you read this, does it remind you of SIBO like symptoms? SIBO is small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Stomach acid is the medium that kills bacteria. Bile is the medium that also kills bacteria. Since both, stomach acid and bile, are not produced in adequate amount, the chance of bacterial overgrowth are increasing.

What can you do?

Digestion starts in the brain when we see and smell food. You know that thinking about a lemon will trigger saliva flow in the mouth. By sitting down for a meal without any distraction of the cellphone or tv you can concentrate on the food you are about to eat. Enjoy the colors and the smell (if you eat real food) to trigger the production of saliva and stomach acid.

Saliva excretion increases even more when you start chewing your food. Saliva starts the digestion of carbohydrates but it also triggers the release of stomach acid before you swallow your food.

Stress decreases stomach acid production. Reduce as much stress in your life as possible. Maybe a diary can help you figure out where you can make changes for the better.

Sleep plays a role in stress reduction.

Drinking filtered water during a meal will dilute stomach acid. Try to drink water between meals.

Caffeine consumption can increase cortisol production and therefore can be perceived as a stressor by the body. Caffeine also increases the peristaltic of the large intestine and can cause diarrhea.

Drugs like Aspirin and Tylenol disturb gut function as well as liver function.

Proton Pump Inhibitor drugs reduce stomach acid.

Antibiotic kill the beneficial bacteria as well as the pathogenic and this causes dysbiosis of the microbiome. Taking a spore based probiotic with the antibiotic will eliminate the chance of developing dysbiosis.

Antihistamine reduce stomach acid production

Herbs such as peppermint and ginger increase stomach acid production.

HCL supplement helps increasing stomach acid and brings down the number of H. pylori bacteria count.

Beets help with bile secretion

Bitters help increase stomach acid production and help the release of bile into the small intestine.

Reduce protein consumption until you have adequate stomach acid production.

Digestive enzymes to help with protein digestion and overall digestion of the food you ate.

MegaGuard is the best supplement that helps with low stomach acid production, gastric emptying, and stomach cramps.

Water Is Essential for Life

water

What is your thought about water? Perhaps, you consider it a super food? If yes, that may sound unbelievable to some people. Why? Because we know about berries, Shiitake mushrooms or Pomegranate to be on the list of super foods. However, water as a super food is something else.

The best water one can drink is spring water, which completed the water cycle from the ocean, to the clouds, into the ground and then comes up at certain places as spring water. Spring water can contribute to healthy living.

There is no doubt that water is essential for our metabolism. Several body functions depend heavily on water. Without water, most of these functions can’t be performed. Below are a few of the functions of water in the body:

  • Detoxification

  • Digestion

  • Acid – Base Balance

  • Holds Minerals, Vitamins & Oxygen during the transport in the blood

  • Gut function – prevention of constipation

  • Supports Temperature regulation

  • Liver and Kidney function

  • Blood building

  • Structure of enzyme building

  • Balance control

  • Immune function

  • Moisturizes the skin

We all know that we can’t live without water for very long. Let me explain what Thomas Hartwig a German nutrition consultant mentioned in his seminar on water.

“If we don’t drink enough water to the point where we are not dehydrated, we can’t digest and use the food we eat.” Mr. Hartwig had a list of consequences that occur when we are dehydrated:

-1% dehydration – thirsty

-2% dehydration – concentration and memory problems

-3% dehydration – dry skin and mucosa, reduces saliva production & urine production.

-5% dehydration – elevated pulse, dizziness, headaches & muscle aches.

-10% dehydration – confusion, swollen tongue, muscle cramps problems.

-20% dehydration – kidney crisis and death

When you consider the fact that seventy percent of our body is water, the above consequences are real. So, think about it for a moment. How much water do you drink during the day?

What kind of water do you drink? Is it bottled water filled with tap water which contains chlorine?

You see, during the night, we are losing water through sweat, breathing and urine production. “If we don’t drink some water right after getting out of bed, we are at about 2% dehydration level throughout the day,” says Mr. Hartwig.

Best time to drink water?

What do you drink in the morning, Coffee, Tea, or Milk? What you drink and time you drink will tell how much you are hydrated during the day.

Our body can’t handle a large amount of water at once. In other words, you can’t drink a ½ gallon of water in the morning and be thinking that you will be hydrated all day long. The body needs water throughout the day, and that means you need to drink at every interval.

My tips

  • Drink one glass of water right after getting out of bed

  • Drink water throughout the day

  • Don’t drink water with your food; it will dilute the gastric acid.

  • Drink water prior to going to bed

  • Get a water filter such as the Berkey Filter

Candida

Candida – Can you free yourself ?

Candida overgrowth is not recognized as a real health issue; therefore, most physicians don’t test for it.

However, you are experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Bloating
  • Brain fog, difficulty concentrating and/or focusing
  • Fatigue, tired all the time
  • Sugar cravings
  • Sinus congestion
  • Headaches
  • Skin irritations, acne, rashes
  • Depression, mood swings, even anxiety
  • Vaginal itching

Everyone has Candida yeast in the gut, mouth and vagina. Candida is not all bad, as it helps with digestion and nutrient absorption.  Other gut bacteria need to be kept in check, otherwise we end up with Candida overgrowth and once we have reached this point, we develop symptoms.

Causes of Candida overgrowth

Candida is called an opportunistic organism, which means it will get out of control like a child or teenager left alone at home. We need adults at home, which are other good bacteria to keep Candida in check. So, if there is an imbalance between the good and bad bacteria in the gut, called Dysbiosis, Candida will do what it does best; multiply.

This brings us to the next question:

What are the causes of Dysbiosis of the microflora?

  • Toxins from the environment
  • Heavy metals
  • Stress, lifestyle stressors, not enough sleep, poor diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates
  • Antibiotics
  • Anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Adrenal issues, too much or too little cortisol
  • Parasite infection

How to get rid of Candida?

Well, we never can get rid of Candida, but we can get rid of Candida overgrowth.

As a Functional Diagnostic Practitioner, I look at underlying causes of symptoms. In the case of Candida overgrowth, I know that it is not the problem, but it is the result of the underlying problem.

Most of the time, the immune system is compromised and bacterial dysbiosis in the gut, due to a lack of supervision so to speak, creates the opportunity for Candida to grow uncontrollably.

  • Candida lives on sugar and refined carbohydrates. In order to starve it, food items that contain those sugars need to be eliminated.
  • In regard to the dysbiosis, we need to heal the gut, which includes balancing the gut flora.
  • I mentioned stressors as the cause of Candida overgrowth; therefore, we need to look at those and eliminate as many as possible.

Takeaway: if you think you have Candida overgrowth and you follow one of those protocols to kill Candida offered online, it may not work for you in the long run.

My approach as a Functional Diagnostic Practitioner:

  • Starving Candida with a sugar and starch free diet.
  • Eating “Real” Foods such as grass fed beef, eggs from free roaming chicken not fed with grains, replenish minerals and vitamins and healthy fats.
  • Stress reduction: Identifying inside stressors such as parasites and bacterial dysbiosis and correcting the problem with the help of herbal supplements. Identifying external stressors such as the influence of a negative person in one’s life, environmental toxins.
  • Sleep hygiene. Going to bed around 10pm.
  • Exercise: not everyone can go to the gym 3-5 times a week. Some are just too weak to even walk around the block. Whatever exercise you can perform is the one you could start out with.
  • Biofilm disrupter: this is huge. All bacteria in the gut or sinuses block the immune system from reaching it by creating a biofilm. Most of the time, biofilms are several layers thick and are hard to break open.
  • Identifying pathogens and getting rid of those with herbal supplements.
  • Supplementation with antifungals to kill Candida.
  • Gut healing supplements: they repair the mucosal barrier in the gut lining
  • Probiotics play a big role in balancing the intestinal flora; they even help to digest food and produce nutrients.
  • RestorFlora contains S.boulardii  or
  • MegaMycoBalance

This holistic approach to restoring balance and function in your entire body is the principle that I work with. It may not always be easy, but it is the best option to support the body in healing itself.

Methylation part I

Methylation part I

So what is methylation? It is a biochemical process which takes place continuously in every cell of the body. It is not one reaction but over one hundred reactions that occur in every cell of the body all the time. Imagine methylation cycles as wheel spinning with the help of methyl groups to drive the cycles. These methyl groups are being transferred (donated) from one chemical to another. Each of the cycles you see in this picture has a specific function which can be performed by methyl groups.

Methyl groups

Are three hydrogen atoms and one carbon atom bonded together. Methyl groups are vital for gene expression, and normal cell replication dictated by the DNA. When sufficient methyl groups are being present, the genes can work perfectly, passing on their DNA code to the RNA in order to ensure the cells work properly.

What are the functions of Methylation?

  • Regulating genetic expression, e.g. turn genes on or off
  • Producing neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine
  • Muscle and neuron health
  • Detoxification with the production of glutathione, produced in the liver.
  • DNA & RNA synthesis and repair.
  • Creating immune cells, such as natural killer cells and T- cells
  • Myelination for the protection of nerves
  • Health of the cardiovascular system
  • Production of mitochondrial energy.

As you can see those functions are all very important in keeping the body healthy. If the methylation processes don’t work properly we develop symptoms and diseases.

As an example, we can take a look at the immune system which under normal circumstances protects us. When methylation problems are expressed, the immune system may not be able to perform it’s function. Say you are infected with a virus, the immune system would start an attack on it. But with certain mechanisms not working properly, the virus can stay active for a very long time, and we end up with a chronic virus infection.  Epstein Barr virus is a very common infection which can result in extreme fatigue and a low grade fever. It can also cause leaky gut, and this in turn causes food intolerances. Another problem is a high homocysteine level which can cause heart disease.

The development of chronic conditions can be explained by the list of functions of methylation. If our body can’t detoxify environmental toxins, degrade excess hormones such as estrogen, can’t repair DNA, can’t protect the nerves with a healthy outer myelin sheath, a person can develop conditions such as:

Autism, Depression, Diabetes, Cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Atherosclerosis, ADD, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia, Chemical Sensitivity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Alcoholism, Insomnia, Down Syndrome, Chronic Viral Infection, Neuropathy, Recurrent miscarriage, Infertility, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, and Allergies

Now to the good news as we learn about the factors that help methylation cycles work properly.

  • Nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B12 or magnesium are needed. For example: Magnesium is involved in about 300 enzyme functions.
  • Healing the gut. We must have a healthy gut in order to absorb the nutrients from the food we eat.
  • Clean Water without fluoride and chlorine.
  • Organic food without herbicides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers.
  • Stress reduction through meditation, avoiding excessive exposure to EMF (Electric Magnetic Fields) while working on the computer or using a cell phone.
  • Healthy sleep habits help the body to rest and repair.

As you can see there are a lot of lifestyle factors you could try to implement on your own.

If you want to know exactly where you have methylation issues, you need to consider a gene test, such as the 23andme, as well as specific blood and urine tests.

We are more bacteria than human!
  • 10 trillion human cells vs 100 trillion bacteria cells.
  • There are over 1000 different species of commensal organisms in the GI tract out of 35,000 possible.
  • Bacterial genes out number human genes 150 to 1 ( 25,000 human genes vs. 3.3 million microbial genes)
  • No two individuals have the exact same composition – not even twins. Species level vast difference
  • Disease is associated with a disruption to the ecology of the GI tract such as Crohn’s disease, IBS, asthma and even obesity.
  • Pathogenic organisms are normal inhabitant of the GI tract such as H.pylori, staphylococcus, e.coli.
  • We actually use bacterial DNA for our own metabolic functions.
What disrupts the population of probiotics in our gut?
  • Birth via C-Section
  • Baby formula instead of breast milk
  • Antibiotic use, especially if take at a young age and always if not combined with probiotics.
  • Anti-bacterial soap and hand sanitizers have a significant detrimental effect on the development of healthy GI flora.
Other Affects on the Microbiome
  • Surgery , usually followed by antibitocs.
  • Age, the older we get the more the microbiome declines.
  • Food choices, the healthier the food choices the better the positive impact on our microbiome.
  • Toxic substances, influence our gut microbiome. Fluoride in tap water, precooked foods, sodas, with ingredients such as artificial sweeteners, syrups.
  • Prescription drugs, Tobacco, Alcohol
What kind of probiotics are required?

It’s important to note that the first part of the definition of a probiotic is that the microorganism has to be alive or it doesn’t fit the definition of a probiotic.

Studies by the Food Standards Agency has confirmed that more than 90 % of strains used in probiotic products today do not survive the gastric system. Thus, they are not “live microorganisms” and not probiotics.

A true probiotic has to naturally survive the gastric barrier – as MegaSporeBiotic ™ does.

  • Must have a position in the microbiota – it’s important for a probiotic to be able to colonize well to afford its beneficial function. Without a spot for it, it will not be able to compete.
  • Must have sufficient numbers to colonize and cause stimulation for benefit.

This is an important feature that is often overlooked. Probiotics work in large part by causing stimulation in the GI. But this stimulation can only occur if the amount of live microorganisms being administered exceeds the natural number of those same species that exist in the GI. This is a fundamental issue with most lactobacillus-and bifidobacterium- based probiotics. These strains naturally exist in the GI in numbers exceeding a trillion cells; thus supplementing in amounts even in the billions, doesn’t cause the necessary stimulation.

The strains found in MegaSporeBiotic exist in total numbers of a few million cells in the GI, thus supplementing in excess of 4 billion live cells causes massive stimulation of the GI.

            • Supplemented Probiotics

, by evolution, should naturally occur in the environment (where they gain exposure to the host) and be stable both in the environment and GI tract.  Ask yourself where did our Ancestors get their probiotics from? Certainly not from a health food store. They got it with the food from the earth (environment). So, any true probiotic should be found in the environment.

Survival of Probiotics

Survival of probiotics through gastric juices in the stomach, 20 min at pH 1-3

Summary: only 4 of 35 strains would survive to enter the large intestine and the survivors would have less than 50 % survival.

MegaSporeBiotic is the first, pharmaceutical grade probiotic formulation naturally designed to survive the harsh gastric environment and arrive at the site of action alive – ensuring full potency.

Indications

So, what’s nature’s design for supplemental probiotics?

  • The most popular is Bacillus spores; also the most wildly studied and used probiotics outside of the supplement market.
  • Bacillus spores were the first commercial probiotics. Were also the first prescription probiotics starting in 1958:
  • Enterogermina (Sanofi-Aventis, Italy)
  • Bacti-Subtil (Aventis, Pharma, France)
  • Most widely used and well studied strains in humans are:
  • Bacillus Subtilis
  • Bacillus Licheniformis
  • Bacillus Coagulans
  • Bacillus Clausii
  • Introducing – Patented Bacillus Indicus HU 36
Key Features of Bacterial Spores
  • They form robust endospore and can withstand harsh temperatures, desiccation, low pH, gastric barriers, antibiotics, UV radiation, solvents, enzymes and even high pressures.
  • They are found all over the environment (soil, vegetation, dust, rocks, aqua-environments, digestive systems of insects, marine life, mammals, etc)
  • Spores remain dormant up to 50 years
  • They colonize very effectively in the Human GI tract and have been found to colonize very effectively in the GI tract of several different animals.
  • Are found as part of the normal human commensal flora.
  • Long history of use in industries where efficacy is closely measured (pharma, agricultural)
  • Extremely safe Use of probiotics are supported by evolution.
  • Its use as a probiotic is evolutionarily supported – true commensal organism.
In spore forms they are transported from host to host / from the environment into the GI tract.
We don’t get the exposure to these spores as we should due to the sterile food supply.

The probiotics have 2 lifecycles / they can live outside the human host in the environment.

As soon as the spores get into the GI tract they understand where they are and they come out of the spore form and transform into vegetated, thriving cell.

Where do we get our probiotics from?

  • All the lactobacillus from our mother when we pass through the birth canal as well as through the amnionic fluid, through core blood and from breast milk.
  • Those species are not in the environment so humans are not designed to consume those species.
  • Spores on the other hand are found all over in the environment
Megasporebiotic
  • Was developed by Dr. Simon Cutting, Ph.D
  • The only dietary supplement probiotic that contains Bacillus Clausii – a strain tested for over 50 years.
  • Contains 5 efficacious bacillus spore probiotics in the consortium – each strain is backed up by a history of use and by published science.
  • Delivers over 4 billion live probiotic cells daily – a dose that matches and exceeds all prescription products of the same strains. The single most powerful spore probiotic formulation.
  • Blended with a pre-biotic to enhance colonization.

Microbiota Balance

  • Spores produce a significant number of potent antibiotics that control bacterial over-growth in the GI tract
  • Spores conduct competitive exclusion of pathogenic organisms to help maintain microbiota balance. They fight for space and nutrients to eliminate the invading species. Such as candida or c diff.
  • Spores have the ability to increase the numbers of the important GI tract commensals, such as lactobacillus.

Immunemodulation  means a down regulation when it’s over active or up regulation when it is under active.

Digestive Aid

  • Bacillus probiotics has been shown to produce key enzymes that help the digestion of food products and alleviate bloating, cramping and discomfort. Enzymes like alpha-amylase, lactase, protease and lipase are improved with the use of Bacillus.
  • Dysbiosis (i.e. the presence of harmful bacteria and the imbalance of good bacteria in the GI tract) is the main cause of digestive disorders and can be argued as being the root cause of most disease. Dysbiosis is also responsible for incomplete digestion of consumed foods. Studies have shown that Bacillus probiotics help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria – thus alleviating dysbiosis.

Key Nutrient Production

  • Production of vitamins – Bacillus probiotics have been shown to produce important amounts of vitamin K and biotin in the large intestines. Absorption of these vitamins are high as they are produced at the sight of absorption.
  • Bacillus also digests resistant starches and non-starch polysaccharides (is a major component of dietary fiber) to short-chain fatty acids, mainly acetate, propionate, and butyrate, which stimulates colonic blood flow and fluid and electrolyte uptake
  • New Bacillus Indicus HU36 – produces high levels of carotenoids that are of the highest bioavailability.

Why these 5 strains?                                    Ingredients_Megaspore

Bacillus Subtilis HU58

  • Widely used, safe and highly effective
  • Produces over 12 affective antibiotics
  • Makes nattokinase and vitamin K2
  • Highly important for immune development and stimulation of the immune system

Bacillus Indicus HU36

  • Potent immune stimulation
  • Produces high levels of carotenoids – lycopene, axtaxanthin, beta-caroten, lutin.
  • Produces quinols and vitamins
  • The most effective antioxidants on the market.

Bacillus Clausii

  • Most widely used probiotic drug in the world.
  • Potent immune stimulator
  • Antibiotic resistant for use during antibiotic treatment

Bacillus Licheniformis

  • Produces protease for digestion and helps protein digestion.
  • Produces whole spectrum of B vitamins and Folic acid.

Bacillus Coangulans

  • Very well studied and long history of use
  • Very effective against IBS, Crohn’s.
  • Produces L+ optical from of lactic acid
  • Potent immune stimulation

Dose, unlike lactobacillus sp and bifidobacterium sp, bacillus spores are found in concentrations around 2 million cells in the gut.

With a dose of just over 4 billion live cells daily, megaspore offers a potent probiotic effect as the dose exceeds the endogenous species by 2000 times / highest on the market.

MegaSpore is both transient and a colonizer.

It is both, which is another unique aspect of these strains.

It is transient because it has about a 21-27 day life cycle in the digestive system. Each individual cell spends about that much time in the gut in various sections and tissues. During their time in the gut, they do attach and colonize.

They attach, they metabolize, they grow by binary fission and they alter the environment around themselves.

If you took just a single dose of Megaspore once, you will find those strains in your gut and stool samples for 21+ days. The digestive system is something like 30 ft long from end to end and it has the surface area of a professional tennis court, so this is a lot of ground to cover.

The strains have the unique ability to exist in various segments of the digestive tract and in various tissues; the mucosa and epithelium.

So when you consume a capsule, the cells move along through your digestive tract and colonize different locations. Some stay in the upper GI (small bowel), some go on to ascending colon, some to the transverse colon, some to the distal.

They attach there and start multiplying to build up their number.

But with that one does, they get fairly spread out, so additional doses are good as you do 2 things:

  1. You increase their numbers so they can cover more tissue and
  2. You get that continuous immune stimulation/modulation from the daily exposure to them. Especially in the Peyer’s patches. Peyer’s patches are organized lymphoid nodules usually found in the lowest portion of the small intestine and the ileum. They are important in immune surveillance and generate immune response within the mucosa.

Why do the bacteria leave the GI tract? They are programmed to leave the gut at some interval because it is crucial to their survival and spread. They use the environment to transfer from host to host. So they have to leave and enter back into the environment to find the next host. This is how they have spread all over the globe.

So they have it programmed in their DNA to re-sporulate and leave the body at some point. But they do leave behind some of their new cells, which will also leave about 21 days after they were created.

Nature has designed them to be consumed continuously as our ancestors did. That daily stimulation/modulation of our immune tissue by the spores is critical to immune function. Also keeping their numbers up in the gut is a big benefit to us.

The Importance of Good Nutrition in Today’s Life

Unhealthy eating combined with physical inactivity is the leading cause of death in the USA.

A diet high in calories, saturated fats, refined sodium and sugar, couple with low fiber and nutrients can lead to various health problems. Some these health problems are:

  • Heart disease
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cancer
  • Autoimmune diseases

Years ago, our forebears cooked healthy meals from fresh produce. The food that was available to our ancestors was full of nutrition. Nowadays, the reverse is the case. The soil we grow plants in is depleted of minerals and beneficial bacteria. The use of synthetic fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides sprayed by workers in hazmat suites often genetically modified.

In addition, minerals and vitamin deficiencies often lead to illness and premature aging. Minerals are not produced in our body but need to be replenished every day. Let’s take a look at what the symptoms are when someone eats a less than optimal diet.

  • Fatigue
  • Trouble sleeping through the night
  • Weight gain
  • Headaches, back pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain
  • Digestive issues – gas, constipation, diarrhea
  • Gum disease
  • Tooth decay
  • Bad breath
  • Muscle tension
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Anger and irritability
  • Skin rashes or eczema
  • Brain fog

Foods should provide us with energy, satisfy us, be fun to eat, and keep us healthy. In addition we need to think about our gut health which includes foremost the health of our gut bacteria. We have about 2 lbs of gut bacteria which weighs as much as our brain and communicates with the brain.

Let’s take a look at what foods are beneficial for us and the micorbiome, the gut bacteria.

  • Grass fed beef
  • Organic raised pork
  • Free roaming, natural fed poultry
  • Eggs from natural fed chicken
  • Butter from grass fed cow milk
  • Olive Oil
  • Coconut oil and butter
  • Ghee
  • Organic vegetables
  • Organic fruits
  • Nuts and Seeds

Now, what will happen when you start nourishing your body? The simple answer is that you probably experience less symptoms and more energy. You may be able to sleep better and through the night. You may not need to see your doctor as often anymore. And your doctor may NOT even see the need for a prescription drugs.

We can choose to support our body with nourishing food and clean water right now.

Toxins in Personal Care Products and the Environment

toxins in cosmetic

Toxins are present in the environment, drinking water, food, food containers and maybe cleaning products. Toxins can also be found in chemical ingredients that are used in personal care products. Care products we use every day such as shampoo, conditioner, hair styling products, body lotion, make up, foundation, facial creams, perfumes, and shaving cream have toxin in them. These chemicals can have impact on your body because your skin easily absorbs whatever you rub onto it – body lotion or magnesium gel.

There are certain chemicals which are often used in personal care products that could affect your health. These personal care products that contain some dangerous chemicals need be avoided. Let us look at some of these chemicals that could be hazardous to your health.

Parabens

There are certain chemicals that made up Parabens and these include Methylparaben and Propylparaben. These two chemicals are found in hair products, shaving cream, body lotion and cosmetics as antimicrobial preservatives. They act as endocrine disruptor and they interfere with estrogen activity and bind to alpha and beta estrogen receptor in female. Besides, these two chemicals increase the risk of breast cancer. They cause breast cancer because parabens mainly accumulate in breast tissue.

Phthalates

Phthalate has Ethylparaben, 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid and many other chemicals that could be dangerous. Phthalates are used in plastic bottles because they soften the material. Every personal care product that is sold in soft containers is being contaminated with phthalates. Phthalates are also found in frequencies, paint pigments and flooring as well as in plastic milk containers.

Phthalates are also endocrine disruptor with estrogenic activity. Women who suffer from endometriosis often times have elevated levels of phthalates as well as children on the autism spectrum. Phthalates are linked to birth defects, obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

These chemicals that made up Phthalate can decrease male fertility by lowering sperm count and testosterone. However, it is important to remember that the law in the USA does not require full disclosure of fragrance mixtures. Therefore, it is hard to know if the products you are purchasing contain phthalates or not. Phthalates are fat-soluble. Foods such as butter, milk and cheeses stored in plastic container have higher amounts of Phthalates than foods that do not contain fats.

Bisphenol-A

Bisphenol-A, also called BPA, is found in food containers especially food cans with epoxy lining. It can also be found even on some sales receipts. BPA is present in plastic containers with the #7 recycling code as well as in water bottles and sometimes in water supply pipes.

BPA exposure can occur through store receipts and personal care products. It often bypasses liver metabolism and thereafter enters the bloodstream directly. BPA is an endocrine disruptor with estrogenic activity. Foods such as butter, milk and cheeses stored in plastic container have higher amounts of BPA than foods that do not contain fats.

When BPA get into foods, it can cause a higher than normal risk for type II diabetes, interfere with infertility, increase the risk for cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, prostate and testicular cancer.

Perfluorinated Compounds PFC’s

These are teflon chemicals which repel oil and water and are basically indestructible. They are found in food packaging such as fast food wrappers, and of course in cookware coated with PFC’s. Furniture, carpets and clothing can be treated with PFC’s to become stain-resistance.

Effects of PFC’s on animal

PFC’s are hormone disruptors. Several studies conducted on animal revealed abnormal thyroid and testosterone levels after exposure to certain PFC’s. Other animal studies found that PFC’s can cause certain types of cancer such as kidney and testicular cancers.

According to pubmed, “Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interfere with the hormone system and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immunological effects in mammals.” Further studies found that even substances that were banned a long time ago can be detected in the body of almost every tested animal and human. This can be explained by the fact that endocrine disruptors are highly lipid soluble which leads to their bio accumulation in adipose tissue. Estrogen disruptor acts on estrogen receptor sites in the cell nucleus as well as changing the expression of genes by binding to DNA.

Why chemicals are difficult to remove from the body

The liver is the number one detoxification organ in humans’ body. It works in two phases to get rid of waste products to keep us healthy. Phase I is the Hydroxylation phase where molecules such as hormones, neurotransmitter, drugs and toxins become activated. The enzyme CYP450 converts such molecules and those can act as carcinogens and free radicals.

In Phase II detoxification the liver inactivates and detoxifies the substances from Phase I. The waste products are sent via the bile into the intestines and can get re-absorbed into the liver. This is the stage it gets difficult to remove chemicals from the body.

Problems with the detoxification process can occur when we lack phytonutrients because we eat a poor diet. Fried foods, processed foods are especially harmful to the body. What we need are fresh vegetables and fruits, grass fed beef and free roaming chicken for proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Another reason why chemicals are difficult to get rid of has to do with gene variations that we are born with, which down or up regulate enzymatic activities. These enzymes metabolize estrogens.

Metabolism of estrogens is a complex process and can be monitored with a combination of gene test and a urine hormone test which also measures the metabolites of estrogen and other hormones.

Stephanie Seneff on Cholesterol

Hidden dangers to our health

For years we’ve seen cholesterol and fat as enemies to our health. Research scientist Stephanie Seneff makes it clear that we’ve been looking in the wrong direction. Because of her husband’s diagnosis of heart disease, she began investigating the root cause of the condition. In the process, she found that dietary deficiencies and environmental toxins were the real problem. And that the statins that doctors were prescribing were harming, rather than helping patients. (Statins have been linked to many conditions, including those we associate with aging: cataracts, diabetes, hair loss, and arthritis, for example.) She also discovered that glyphosate, the active ingredient in the herbicide Round Up, threatens everyone’s well-being, and links it, among other things, to autism and Alzheimers, and, yes, to heart disease. What does Stephanie recommend for safeguarding your health? For starters, a diet of organic foods, rich in sulfur, and, surprisingly, fat and cholesterol.

Testimonial

I would like to send some praise out for the healing that Megasporebiotic did in saving me from the horrible infection called C. Diff. I followed all of the doctors directions and took all of the expensive medications several times. Nothing worked that they gave me. Then I was told that I needed a fecal transplant and would have to pay for 3/4th of it up front before I could have it. I prayed and cried out to God for help. I was already looking up everything that I could find on healing naturally. I just happened to come across Linda Wilbert Stewart on Facebook. I looked at every single one of her posts. I commented on one post asking if there was any thing natural to eliminate the infection C. Diff. To my surprise she said yes ! I was like..Oh Thank you Lord !! Even more to my surprise.she did not live that far away from me. She told me about Megasporebiotic ( A Miracle) . I bought 3 bottles. She came to my house and we discussed my health and diet. She also told me to start Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS and add Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth to my food. I did this faithfully with every meal. I slowly started to heal. When I ran out I thought I wouldn’t need them anymore. But after being sick with C. Diff for over a year there had been a lot of damage done to my gut. So I called her back and ordered more. I am now on just a maintenance dose of once a day. Linda is extremely knowledgable and very trustworthy. I feel like Megaspore and her advice is what healed me. My doctor was thrilled with what I was taking and that it worked. For any of you that are suffering with C.Diff ( And I do mean Suffering) there is hope and Linda can guide you through this. I have been well now over a year! Most people seem to get it back very easily because C.Diff destroys your immune system. If you take meds for Reflux ..then get off of them and just take 2 to 4 ounces of Aloe Vera juice on an empty stomach and before meals. PPI meds is part of what destroys out gut immune. God bless Megasporebiotic and God bless Linda Wilbert Stewart !! Thank you Linda you are a God send !    Debbie, NC

Linda is very thorough in her discussion and sharing of information.  She walked me through a very difficult time in my healing and shared valuable information to kick start that process.  Linda is very professional and knowledgeable.  I would recommend working with her again in the future. I was suffering from chronic cystic acne around my chin before working with Linda. I would try and keep a food journal to try and figure out what I was eating that was causing this debilitating condition. The problem is that food sensitivities can show up 72 hours later, and it was too hard to figure out which food item it was. I finally decided to just work with Linda and take the MRT test. I had enough of guessing what foods were causing the cystic acne. When I got the results back, I was surprised about the items I tested sensitive to. I simply removed all those items from my diet, and my face got to its clearest in years within three weeks! No more painful nodules on my face! I’ve noticed that if I eat items from my list, I can feel a reaction on my face coming, so I know the test is accurate. I just stop eating those items, and my face clears again. I highly recommend working with Linda. She is very attentive to detail, and is committed to you having the best results for your condition related to diet. I only wish I did this earlier.    Rich, CA

This has been a year of learning experiences.  I have gone to several doctors over the years. And each time I have come away frustrated with all of them.  They don’t listen or they hear what they want.  I have listened to their advice and stuck with it for years.  I was on BP meds, two diabetic medications, and  Cholesterol meds. when I met Linda.  Linda told me things no one had ever mentioned before.  She told me that from the test results I gave her that I was Gluten intolerant and had leaky gut.  She worked up a protocol and supplements for me. I changed my diet with Linda’s help and the results were incredible.  I  have lost over 50 pounds but, more important than that is I feel so much better.  My children have only known me as a large (size 20-22) person.  They are getting used to the new and happier (size 10) person I am now.  I am off both diabetic meds and cholesterol meds.  My BP meds have been lowered.  Linda is very caring, listens to you and answers all your questions.  She is diligent when giving you advise. She is a wealth if information.  My suggestion for everyone is to listen to Linda’s suggestions and advise, and as the saying goes “Just do it.”  Thank you so much Linda.      Doreen,NC

I suffer from Hashimoto’s Disease and when I started with Linda almost 3 months ago, I had gained a lot of weight, had brain fog, and was extremely tired with absolutely no energy. It took me a lot of effort to get out of bed every morning and I had to take a 2 hour nap every day in order to be able to go through the day. In addition, I also had insomnia, muscle pain, irritability, drastic mood changes, and depression. I knew I needed some help, and conventional doctors where not providing any. When I started with Linda’s program, I was desperate bc I knew I was sick and and I needed to do something about it.
Linda reviewed all my previous tests and tested my adrenals and minerals and sure enough, I had adrenal fatigue stage II, and high mineral imbalances. I started taking all the recommended supplements and applied her stress reduction program: within 2 months I started to feel the difference in my energy levels, and my muscle pain disappeared.
We are still in the healing process, but now I feel completely normal again, I can go through the day with a good energy level, sleep well, and my emotional fluctuations are completely gone. There’s no depression or mood swings, and I’m fully emotionally stable. I also started exercising which is something I couldn’t do before. I’m happy again.
Linda is an excellent professional, very caring, dedicated, and truly cares for her clients. She answers every question with diligence, and offers excellent guidance with the needed protocols. I couldn’t choose a better practitioner and I fully recommend her.

I’m so happy to report that the inflammation in my knee is gone and I am able to walk without a cane. Linda recommended to get off gluten and gave me the right kind of supplements. I am 88 years old and not being dependent on a cane is the best thing that happened to me in a long time. I have more energy, can think better, can clean my apartment and cook my own meals.  Elfriede, Germany

I just wanted to send a thank you to Linda for all of the help she has provided while I worked through a severe adrenal fatigue issue. Her ability to order the right tests and then create a personalized plan for me with supplements and diet has helped turn around my exhaustion. She stayed with me even when I could not think clearly. Thank you  so much for caring and for your patience! Day 5 into the MRT (food sensitivity test / see Service  elimination diet and I feel great. Having a few minor detox reactions but the body pain, swelling, inflammation, stomach issues / ALL GONE.I can completely close my fist and my joints are not swollen. I lost 6 lbs. in 12 days 🙂   Sheila, NY

Linda gave me a supplement which was supposed to help me gain muscle strength. I am 89 years old and walk with a cane wherever I go, even in the house. Today, I started walking without a cane, even climbed up the stairs without a problem. This is the greatest gift I could get at my age. I now can walk on the treadmill during the winter months which will keep me fit.  Erwin, Germany

I’d like to thank you very much. After many long years of being bedridden and suffering thousands of symptoms, I am feeling so much better / a lot better / that I can now start living my life again. I can go shopping again, play with my son and life seems positive again. Without you I would never have managed this. I can only recommend your help to everyone. You are really superb. A thousand thank you.   Katja and Jordy, Luxembourg

It’s a shame that this disease (Hashimoto’s) is just pushed aside and we’re pretty much told to just deal with it…/ If it was not for you, Linda, I still would be feeling horrible… I do have my off days still… but you have helped me, educated me, informed me so much more than my endo who is cashing in.  I have been told everything under the sun and in just a few short days and reading lots of info from Linda, I’ve gone from crying on the couch to more and more energy everyday.. and getting better!!!   Kristine

Linda was one of the first people that helped me when I found out I had Hashimoto’s, adrenal fatigue and gluten sensitivity. I was very confused and sick and she pointed me in the right direction with articles to read and information that I needed to get healthy. She is very knowledgeable and if there is something she isn’t sure of, she will look it up and figure it out. I can very annoying with my forgetfulness, but Linda has been very patient with me and just keeps reminding me of what I need to do, reminds me of the information that I am forgetting gently leads me back on the right path for my healing. Any time I have a question about a product, a specific herb or supplement she has always taken the time to answer me and help me find what will work best for me and my body. I will be forever grateful to Linda and all the help she has given me. She is a Godsend for sure! If you are unsure of anything in the health area, Linda can definitely help!    Traci B., MI
